Our take
This is Lennox's volume two-stage furnace, not the modulating SLP99V flagship -- and that turns out to matter for more than price. Its 96% AFUE clears the new ENERGY STAR Version 5.0 regional bar (effective July 31, 2026) in the South (>=95%) but falls one point short of the North region's 97% floor -- a real, current gap between what used to be a blanket 'ENERGY STAR furnace' claim and what the label actually requires as of this research pass. Base parts warranty is a shorter 5 years (10 with registration), against most other modulating units in this catalog's 10-year base.
Best for
Straightforward two-stage gas replacement where budget matters more than modulating burner comfort, especially in the ENERGY STAR South region where 96% AFUE still qualifies.
Watch out for
Two-stage, not modulating -- expect more on/off cycling on mild days than the fully-modulating units in this catalog. Confirm product registration within Lennox's window or the parts warranty drops from 10 years to 5.

Ask whether the AFUE rating on the quote is for this specific model or a nameplate range.
