Our take
LG is the one manufacturer in this catalog's full battery lineup still openly building on NMC (nickel manganese cobalt) rather than LFP chemistry -- confirmed directly (solartechonline.com: 'All LG RESU batteries utilize NMC...lithium-ion chemistry'), not an assumption carried over from older LG products. NMC packs more energy into a given size than LFP but is generally understood to have a narrower thermal-runaway safety margin, which is the same chemistry class LG Energy Solution's own RESU 10H recall (CPSC, 2022, ~11,500 units, one fire) affected -- a different specific model than this one, but the same chemistry family, disclosed in the recall_safety evidence cluster below. Round-trip efficiency is genuinely disputed across sources this pass checked: EnergySage and NRG Clean Power both independently state 90%, while a lower-tier aggregator claims 94.5-97.5% -- the two independent 90% readings are used here as the better-corroborated figure, with the disagreement disclosed rather than silently resolved.
Best for
Buyers already committed to a DC-coupled architecture with a compatible third-party hybrid inverter, or wanting the highest single-unit usable kWh at high voltage in this catalog.

Before you buy this
Size on continuous power (kW) for what you actually want backed up during an outage, not just usable capacity (kWh) — a well pump or a heat pump compressor starting can draw far more than its running wattage. List your essential loads and ask whether the proposed inverter can start them together, not just hold them once running. And confirm the quote isn't still claiming the 30% federal credit, which expired for anything placed in service after 31 December 2025.
